STACKABLE ELECTRONICS ENCLOSURE DESIGN
Product Design
This is a prototype for my design of a stackable electronic modules system. It looks like an ordinary Bluetooth speaker that is often placed on our desk, but what differentiates it from other speakers is that the upper layers can be modified to support various functions and can be stacked in any preferred order. The pictures attached show the base and the Bluetooth speaker stack that are both made with aluminum extrusion. The smooth metal surface looks simple and sophisticated, thus would be a good fit for people who pursue elegant enjoyment.
Stackable Electronics Enclosure Design: Project
The connection between stacks is a circular rail with two semi-ball shaped holes on two sides. There are also two hemispheres at the bottom of a module, so they can slide in the rail and sit in two positions. In one case the modules will form a flat cylinder, and in the other case the enclosure will have a more inclined angle. These two modes can be seen as storage form and use form, so the user can have more fun playing with the product.

Stackable Electronics Enclosure Design: About Me
In the design process, I included some meaningful details that helped the product to stand out in the market. For instance, the top of the second stack is slanted by 3 degrees, so people can place their cell phone on the top stack or even let it support wireless phone charging. The main reason for me to design this slope is that my eyes are sensitive to light reflected from the screen, so I always try to avoid having my phone facing straight up. The 3 degree slope can hardly be noticed by itself, but it perfectly solves my problem about reflected light and still provides a steady support.
